Map Your Flock: Google Map Challenge

Only 8 people have mapped their urban flock over the past few months, and we would like to see a lot more than that. So...we are having an Urban Chicken Google map challenge! The challenge is to have 100 flocks mapped by the 1st of August. We would also like to see some flocks mapped from outside of the US. read more »

Chicken Keeping Victory: Salem, MA

Analysis of Chicken Ordinances from 25 Cities

For this paper I evaluated residential chicken ordinances from 25 cities, in an effort to gain a better understanding of the common components of chicken ordinances. I will provide a brief summary of my findings below, and will post my full paper to the site after I edit it a few more times. (I got an A on the paper, but I am a perfectionist- sorry!) read more »

Chicken Keeping 101 Class Successful

The Chicken Keeping 101 Class, held on May 10th, was very successful with almost 20 people in attendance. It was a wonderful crowd, and the New Mexico spring winds also blew in for a visit.
For this class we covered the basics of chicken keeping and habitat choices, and we also performed a wing clipping demo. The best part of the class however was answering lots of questions from soon to be chicken keepers. read more »
