Eggs, Older men, and death
One of our new members, chickenrancher, pointed me to a national news article that appeared here in our local newspaper. Here is the link to the article at ABC News.
This article talks of a study done showing a link between the number of eggs an adult male consumed over a 20 year period and his risk of death. Is this an accurate conclusion from the study? I think the last paragraph in the article answers that question:
"Men who ate the most eggs also were older, fatter, ate more vegetables but less breakfast cereal, and were more likely to drink alcohol, smoke and less likely to exercise -- all factors that can affect the risk of heart attack and death".
And don't forget...bacon go really well with eggs.
So should male chicken keepers be concerned about the amount of eggs they eat? Well that is up to personal choice. I think I will continue to feed my husband eggs as part of a well balanced diet and healthy lifestyle, as this sounds like poorly done science.
